Rot Resistance: Rated as very durable against decay, but it can be vulnerable to insect attacks.
Workability: Generally easy to work with, especially when the grain is straight and regular. Planer tearout may occur with irregular or figured grain. Accepts glues, stains, and finishes well, although it is infrequently stained. Responds well to steam bending.
Odor: Black Walnut has a faint, mild odor when being worked.
